Picture

 Overview
The Somatic Exercise Teacher Training (SETT) Program, is a great way for physiotherapists, body workers and movement professionals to help their clients and students with self care exercises that can ease and even eliminate chronic pain, improve mobility & posture, recover from injury and much much more.  This program is based on the principles & theories of Thomas Hanna, and has been designed to work for whichever profession you are currently teaching or practicing.  Highly motivated individuals will learn how to incorporate these exercise into their current practice or teachings, and how to use these ground breaking exercises to ensure their own longevity in their chosen career.

Limited class sizes - we do limit the size of each course.

SETT Module 1 -  Your somatic journey begins with the exploration of your own soma (your body as perceived from within). Increase your mind-body connection and develop your somatic awareness. Learn the key concepts of Hanna Somatics. Concepts that will help you to teach the Somatic Exercises. You will learn about the different postural reflexes and their corresponding exercises. You will learn about Sensory Motor Amnesia, how to recognize it and how to treat it. You will learn the exercises for; controlling the extensor muscles of the back, controlling the flexor muscles of the stomach, controlling the waist muscles, and improving trunk rotation.

SETT Module 2 - For this part of your somatic journey, you will continue to develop your Somatic awareness. There will be a review of the key concepts taught in level 1, and practice time for previous exercises learned. Moving on you will learn the exercises for the; hip joints and legs, neck and shoulders.

SETT Module 3 - In this part of your somatic journey, you will further develop your somatic awareness as you learn the exercises for improving breathing and improving walking. There will be review of all the exercises and concepts learned in levels 1 & 2. You will practice with fellow classmates and give and receive feedback.

“Nikki has more than 25 years teaching experience as a successful dance teacher and studio owner. Her personal injury and chronic pain has made her a very empathetic and personally knowledgeable teacher of Somatics. Her over 40 years of the study in the field of dance has given her valuable knowledge about the body and movement. She is outgoing, warm, and approachable, which makes everyone around her feel comfortable. Our students and teachers love the energy she brings with her as well as her personal knowledge and teaching skills.

It is put together well and it will ensure that those taking it will be gifted with the ability to not only teach the exercises to others, but they will be able to use the somatic exercises for their own personal practice.
